Current mood: satisfied

So Saturday morning me and the girls decided to embrace the geek side and go to the London Film and Comic Con at Earl’s Court.

We couldn’t hang around for long, but we made the most of our time!

Abs made her way straight to Elijah Wood’s area (he was all behind screens and stuff – fair enough for photos – but for autographs?! What’s all that about?!)

Carolyn and I managed to lurk in a convenient place and see the moment when Abs got her photo taken with him (thanks to kind security guy!). Did feel for the poor guy, posing for the same photo over and over again…

Got a little stressed as time ticked past and realised my place in the virtual queue to meet Nathan Fillion was never going to come round in time before I had to go at lunchtime. Carolyn proved why she is one of my bestmates by going and having a word with the queue guy and he let me join the end of the queue early! (see convention people are really nice! Living up to their fab tee shirts ‘I’m (name of person), I’m here to rescue you!’)

So there I am….and I get to the front and Nathan flashed me this big smile and asks my name. I tell him, he replies with ‘Hi, I’m Nathan, nice to meet you.’ and shakes my hand…with a double handshake…both hands wrapped round mine…..In two seconds he officially becomes a contender for my laminated top five! He then grabs my camera and says something like ’give me that let’s get this done right now’. So we pose for pic…..

I point out my ‘crazy friends’ to him and they oblige by grinning at him and waving. He enthusiastically waves at them and asks them why they’re not queueing and tells them to get in line!

Whilst he’s signing, I ask him which was more fun, being a cool space cowboy captain with his own spaceship or being a psychotic priest who gets to beat up Sarah Michelle Gellar. After a bit, he says that Captain Mal Reynolds is the coolest and best written character he’s ever played and had so much fun playing him…..or something like that. I joined in with an appreciative ‘you’re SO right’. Then he gave me another double handshake whilst looking me right in the eye and telling me that it was a pleasure to meet me (!)…seriously he could shake my hand all day…

Then it was all over and I thanked him and grinningly went back to the girls. Sigh…..

Everyone’s a little bit geeky sometimes…..right?!
