Soooooo…
We back from our first official ‘tour’ of the trip. We got off to a decidedly bumpy start when our tour organisers forgot to pick us up….After forty minutes waiting, we called to find they had lost our email with the details of our accommodation and had left without us!!
Luckily the Aussies are very kind and turned triple somersaults to get us caught up with the rest of our party so in the end we joined them 5 hours later!!
Fraser Island is beautiful. Lake Mackenzie is a crystal clear fresh water lake and Carolyn and I braved the cold and got wet. Gorgeous…

Then we went for a walk through the rainforest before a swift drink at the bar and a laugh at some of our party doing karaoke and then snuggled into our nicely upgraded accommodation! (see being forgotten does have some perks!)
Today we saw a shipwreck of an old first class luxury liner on the beach and went up to Indian Head – which is a big rocky outcrop where you can sit and look down to the sea. It is SO clear! We managed to spot a few rays, had a humpback whale blow a few air spouts off the shore and saw some sharks. The first few, we were like ‘ooh a shark…thought it would seem bigger…but then they are a bit far away.’ ……then we saw the Daddy……
Grabbed Carolyn’s hand…would NOT like to be swimming with him in the water. He was just this big black silhouette and gliding along all sharklike……..*Ruth does Mufasa typa shiver from the Lion King*…
Then home via a beautiful sunset with some dolphins playing in the water as we crossed back to the mainlind…..sigh…it’s as if God just knew what we wanted to see and planted them all….
bugger…… time is flashing…these blogs would be so much more eloquent and Hemmingway-esque if I had more time….grrr argh,,
Till next time peeps
