Current mood: chipper

So I’ve decided modern technology is great! I am sitting here in Dave and Michelle’s kitchen in Canada and I can write this blog – and chat to my mates in London…..brilliant!

The holiday hath begun!

Magic Steve and Agnes were absolute stars to drop me off at Heathrow – even if wierdly enough terminal 4 is only signposted in one direction (what’s that about!? Terminal 5 is and it’s not even open yet!!)

The boy was my hero as he waited in the check in queue for an hour and a half with me and did the goodbyes at the departure gate with minimal wailing and pleading…. I miss him ridiculously of course – but am loving the inventor of the webcam rather a lot!!!

Then on boarding realised I had a nice seat – a leg-roomy affair near the exit so that was great – especially as we sat on the tarmac for TWO HOURS before we managed to get going!!! Grrr argh…. Not quite sure what the faffage was due to but the captain put the entertainment system on so I was able to joy a little Bond-age, which was great!! Of the Daniel Craig variety…. Before you start thinking BA was offering much more kinky forms of in-flight entertainment these days!!

Then finally we got to Vancouver. Michelle was there to pick me up and we got the ferry over to the Island which took two hours and we caught a little sleep on the floor.

Finally got to bed at 1:30am and slept like a baby!

Yesterday was a very chilled day and managed to skype the boy and have a good catch up with the webcams which was great fun…almost like having him here in the kitchen with us….almost!

Michelle and I popped to a little local beach. Is stunning. SO nice to be near the sea again. The sky was clear blue and the trees tall and green and as I looked up, saw a bald eagle riding the thermals. WOW! It was like the Big Man had put him there specially for us. Thought of Carolyn and how she would have been ticking him off on her mental wildlife wishlists she makes when travelling…. Another thing about the beach was the abundance of white oyster shells lying around. Don’t see those in Saunton!!

Hit the jet lag wall in the afternoon and managed to push through till half past nine before crashing. The lighter evenings make it easier than Oz where Carolyn and I were ready for bed by 7!!!

Soooo….that’s my first installment – no doubt others will follow. Michelle is working today so it’s me, Dave and the girls at home.

Miss you guys….

big love
